Flex EMTs

Position Summary: EMT’s are highly trained and dedicated health care team members who provide emergency and non-emergency care to patients as part of the EMS system. The EMT responds to calls, assesses and documents the situation, diagnoses and treats patients for emergency needs as patient condition requires. Obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and assesses the situation's urgency and seriousness. Provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with the medical care facility about the patient's condition, status and time of arrival in a timely and accurate manner. Effective problem solving and overall efficiency are essential components.

Position Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Previous EMS experience preferred but not required.

    •  

    License/Certificates:

  • Current EMT certification from the State of Minnesota EMSRB, current BLS provider (CPR) and valid driver’s license required. Must have clean driving history or history reviewed by management for approval.

    •  

    Special Skills and Capabilities:

  • Ability to solve problems and implement solutions effectively.

  • Ability to identify, assess, understand and cope with a serious situation.

  • Effective interpersonal relation skills, observation and reporting skills.

  • Ability to adapt resources to the needs of the situation.

  • Ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communication

  • Ability to communicate effectively and with respective manner to co-workers and patients

    Essential Job Functions:

  • Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies

  • Meets basic responsibilities:

    • Arrive on time for work and ready to perform assigned tasks

    • Meet facility hygiene and appearance standards

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    •  

    Job Type: Flex Time/On Call: day, night, weekend shift rotations, occasional holiday
