Alayne Brekke, MPAS, PA-C

Joeanna Lee Aasen, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is a Family Nurse Practitioner serving NVHC’s Hospital and Emergency Department. With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Joeanna has dedicated her career to rural healthcare and emergency medicine across Northwestern Minnesota.

 

Born and raised in the Clearbrook/Gonvick area, Joeanna understands the unique challenges rural communities face and is deeply committed to providing safe, compassionate, evidence-based care. She earned her Master of Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of North Dakota in 2011 and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2016.

 

Joeanna has served patients in emergency departments throughout the region, including Mahnomen, Red Lake, Roseau, Thief River Falls, and Warren, and most recently practiced at Hennepin County Medical Center before returning home to NVHC.

 

She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is pursuing additional certification in Emergency Medicine. Joeanna values clear communication, lifelong learning, and caring for patients at every stage of life—especially in rural communities she is proud to call home.
